Bank headquarters

Short-listed in an international competition. Considered as a landmark project for both the bank and Zagreb, the project is primarily for Bank facilites with the lower ground level given over to mixed retail functions.

Building and Environment: Reading the existing urban matrix of the location and its environment resulted in creation of the project and environment development plan in a period of thirty years. The basic concept was the growth of the building out of the current matrix and not out of the non-existing plan. The plot itself, as well as the needs of the bank require the project of significance not only for the town quarter but also for the whole town and country, the project with the identity and mark for the wider region. The solution of the project urban environment ( area between Bank and Library) came from the “”drawing”” on the spot, so we recommend that the first step be the reconstruction of roads and construction on large unoccupied plots and the further steps would be conditioned by extension of bank and library lines and defining conditions for raising the existing matrix to the higher level and annex construction. The building shall be modern, technologically and ecologically healthy, compatible to the environment, upgrading it, not deteriorating it.

Park: The large house has a large entrance. As the project is foreseen with commercial and municipal facilities in the ground floor, the entrance to the building is from the first floor – a park with ‘metropolis lights’ – fanlights of the ground floor, green roof and pool in front of ground floor entrance. Park and the surrounding grounds are connected with ramps in north and south part of the park, ramps over the pool, staircases, and elevators from the ground floor and garages.
